desport (part B)

Working at this project, I decided to follow a precise process: I imposed myself some limits which I don’t want to overstep. Using a traditional portable recorder, I started to record some audio that I could not listen on the tape. 80% of the material recorded has been used on the final tracks. Two are the main concepts at the base of my work: 1 - the limit; 2 - the growth.
1 • The idea is working on the so called “economy of tools” (low costs instruments and effects) trying to go beyond the contemporary debate based on the dicotomy analogic vs digital.
2 • Working on an apparently restrected range of materials, finally gave me the opportunity to pay attention on each inner detail. The investigation of these sounds was similar to the microscope observation. It was litterally like take a fragment of something, enlarge it thousand of times, and understand how the human scale (1:1) gives access only to one little part of the world.

The title of the project comes from a "sport" suggestion, which is the contraction of the english word "disport", which means entertainment. Disport, originally comes from the old french word "desport" which has the same meaning. Finally the french word comes from the old latin "deportare", a cobination between preposition “de” which indecate the idea of leaving plus the verb “portare” (bring). "Deportare", thus means bring ourself away, out.
Each track of the "desport [part B]" recalls to one sports discipline in the following order: squash; parachuting; tennis; sumo.
